RYPT Mindset Corner: Help
How to succeed in your fitness goals
Choosing who to trust
As a new addition to the RYPT online blogging, I have decided that I will be looking at one idea of psychology each week and reviewing how it can help with your fitness.
This week: Help
It’s the time of year when the evenings get lighter and people start thinking about summer holidays and inevitably fitness.
Yet despite months of slaving away in the gym, we normally avoid asking fitness questions. I could probably count off the top off my head how many times I’ve been asked fitness questions online despite advertising free questions on my blog.
In most other ways of life, if you don’t know how to do something you ask for help. For example, if you need help with bleeding a radiator, you don’t just carry on and try it “for the best.” However, this is what most people do with their fitness and then wonder why the results aren’t following despite hours of labouring away.
Yes, on paper it’s an easy task to get fit: lift weights or run faster over time and you’ll see results. However there is no substitute for correct technique and a progressive plan.
Experience in fitness is something which can be difficult to find given the short career span of most PT’s. Therefore, a fitness coach with experience will predominantly be a good and experienced coach. In addition, they will likely have a varied repertoire as years and years of doing the same thing would drive anyone insane!
Getting fitter and healthier is tough enough without spending time “winging it” and experimenting. Why bother when you have fully qualified fitness professionals available (and for less than you may think). That’s where the investment of time to money comes in.
